Endeavoring To Pursue An Interest
Sep 28th, 2008 by Di
Anyone who knows me knows that I am full of brilliant ideas.
Well, I have a brilliant idea I’d like to share with you. I have two particular readers in mind. Just follow me.
Andrea was recently inspired by my reflective post about my 2008 goals to write a goal-oriented post of her own (read this sentence very carefully – it really does make sense). Ali recently wrote a post of goals as well. One goal we all expressed an interest in pursuing is weight loss. I say an interest in pursuing because I don’t want to say a goal we will meet and conquer until we actually do it. At least if it is simply a goal we are interested in pursuing, it won’t be a failure when we don’t reach that goal.
I told you, I’m genius!
In the interest of pursuing this goal of weight loss, I propose that Ali, Andrea, and I team up with our blogs to support each other in our endeavor to maintain an interest in pursuing a weight loss goal. I don’t recall Andrea reporting a number of pounds she wishes to lose. I would like to get down to 160 by New Year’s. Judging by Ali’s goals #2, 5, 7, 10, 17, and 20, I have come to the conclusion that Ali would like to lose six pounds. I could be wrong, but that is rare.
I have gotten off to a good start, this weekend. I started filling my stainless steel water bottle, again, and taking it to class. I am trying to drink at least 32 ounces of water per day. It’s a start. Since I shun beverages with high-fructose corn syrup, pop/soda/soda-pop/liquid speed is off the menu. I’ve started taking note of how much I eat using the old Weight Watcher’s guidelines I learned several years ago. I’m not exactly following them, but it’s a start. I chose not to drink alcohol the last few days. A combination of being on call and preparing for rides and a race has made this choice easier.
As you can see, I have some basic ideas of what I can do to drop the extra pounds. Sure, I’ll have the added benefits of feeling more attractive and having an excuse to buy new clothes, but more importantly, I will climb hills like an animal. Oh, yeah. I will be fast.
This is the best benefit of losing weight.
Great idea… and since I don’t like to step on a scale, I have no idea how many “pounds.” I’ll just know when … I know!?
So, the best thing for me to do is to list the food I eat EVERY day. In the past I’ve put the list right on my fridge. I’m considering writing it on my blog. Scary huhm? So scary that it WILL work since I simply cannot lie to myself or to readers. It will be even more effective if you participate & I might get some great meal ideas! Oh, I’m starting today - check the post tonight.
I’m on board, just a little behind in my reading! Sounds like I need to lose a lot more than Ali (maybe) and probably a lot more than you. I’m game for some company, though. I need lose about 50 total.
That’s “I need to lose about 50 total.”
