I Had Fun
By Diane UrsuSaturday was a most excellent day. I woke quite early so I could prepare for an 11 a.m. ride at the Tech Trails. Driving was not an option. I was to prepare for a four to five hour ride and go by bike.
I rode down and met up with the Copper Country Cycling Club folks for what turned out to be a somewhat easy and fun ride. We rolled around the Tech Trails like a bunch of kids playing in the woods. We then headed back to the C4 house for burgers. I couldn’t pass up food since I had to ride home. I’ve made that ride quite a few times with a growling stomach and little energy left. It’s grueling. Adding cool, misty weather to the mix makes it a bit harder.
After nourishment, I found the courage to ride home in the dreary, misty weather. It was getting chilly and I was not looking forward to returning home, but I did. The ride back ended up being wonderful and colorful. Red leaves adorned the snowmobile trail and the climb through Hancock warmed me to a comfortable temperature. My stomach was appeased by the small burger I had previously eaten. I found myself enjoying the long climb back to my road. Rather than rushing, I was living in the moment and pushing myself towards the upper limit. I was having fun.
It wasn’t until I reached home that the rain started falling. I was quite relieved to be home. I jumped in a warm shower, clothed myself in comfy sweats, and sat down with my Ecology textbook to prepare for an upcoming exam.
