I Will Ride
By Diane UrsuLet’s ride bikes!
HIGHS:
Wednesday: 52 degrees
Thursday: 60 degrees
Friday: 60 degreesAnyone interested in doing some social road rides over the next three days?
Wednesday at 6:15ish pm is good for me. I’m free all day Thursday, and I can ride [finishing] before 1:30 or starting after 4:00, Friday.
Di
This was the email I sent out, today. It’s now or never. It’s time to ride.
Two people are interested in riding, Thursday. I sent out the confirmation email for Thursday’s afternoon ride. The meeting place is only six miles from my house, so I will ride in on that beautiful, sunny, 60-degree day. I can’t wait. It is going to be [almost] what I’ve been hungering for [mountain biking being the epitome of that hunger].
No replies have hit my inbox regarding Friday, yet. I do expect someone to bite. This has to happen. First, it’s Friday. Who doesn’t have time to ride on Friday? I mean, come on, KBC will be open until midnight. We all have time to ride, shower, and get beer.
Tomorrow, I will go solo. No one has replied with, “YES! I can make it! I WILL ride with you, Di!” Nope, none of that. Instead, I will package up everything for a nice little commute into Michigan Tech. The ride in should take about 45 minutes. I really don’t know. I still haven’t decided whether I’ll switch out my cyclocross tires in favor of some sleek, fast, road tires. It might very well happen. I do like speed.
Equally as important as setting up some group rides is how I felt sending that email. For the first time, since last year, I felt the rush of excitement of sending out an email inviting the Keweenaw world to ride with me. It is incredible. It is motivating. It is assurance that I will ride.

YAY!!! Pedal it up!
