Hushovd is an accomplished sprinter who was expected to do well on the flatter stages, but he managed to hang on in the Pyrenees to nab 12 points for third on the Col d’Aubisque, an Hors catégorie climb! Not only did this sprinter … Read entire article »

2011 Tour de France Stage 7: Le Mans to Châteauroux

Le Mans to Châteauroux is the flattest stage in this year’s Tour de France with a sprint at Buzançais toward the end of the course. That didn’t mean that it wasn’t interesting. A Complete Tour de France Viewing Experience

A Complete Tour de France Viewing Experience

Last year’s Tour de France was my first. I woke up early every morning so I could watch the Tour and cover it for Examiner.com. Sure, it was work, but it also became a bit of a habit. I cheered for Lance. I tried to win free stuff in all of the contests. I learned about other riders that I now cheer for in the absence of Lance. One … Read entire article »

After All, Holdridge Is on the Way Home

Yesterday was hectic. I drove home from Fife Lake, unpacked, bathed, dressed for a job interview, filled up a water bottle and CamelBak, packed clean(ish) cycling clothes, made a meal for on-the-go, drove to the interview, completed the interview, and then hit up Holdridge Lakes on the way home. Yes, in my sick, twisted mind, Holdridge Lakes just happened to be “on the way home,” yesterday. Never mind the fact that home is directly down West I-69 from Flint. That part doesn’t matter. Let me be very clear about this: south to Holly is on the way home. So, I just happened to stop by Holdridge Lakes on the way home. On the drive there, I filled up with a peanut butter and … Read entire article »

Glen and Ali’s Fourth of July Weekend—A Photo Essay Part III

My final day with Ali and Glen was spent in perfect Fourth of July fashion. I started the day off with dragging my butt out of bed and immediately posting on Facebook that my Vasa ride would be an hour later than originally planned. I met Jon Rose out there for 16.2 miles of fun, fun, fun. Afterward, Ali, Glen, and I had lunch with Ali’s brother’s family. We—Ali and her brother, … Read entire article »
