2009 Ore to Shore Protest Dinner – The Jeff Kirlin Experience
I was very excited to go to Ore to Shore, this year. I always look forward to having dinner with my friends from the Lower Peninsula. This year, we went to Aubree’s in Marquette, [star date] Friday, August 7. I sent the invitation for this event via Facebook. The funny thing is that Facebook requires you to categorize your “event,” so I went with “Protest.” I thought it worked. An interesting topic came up during our “protest” dinner: Jeff Kirlin. If you don’t know who Jeff Kirlin is, well, I don’t either. Jeff is some guy in Maine who happens to be on Facebook friending innocents from the Michigan Mountain Biking Association. Ore to Shore—Improved!
I’ve had the great fortune of not having any mechanicals during my races over my short, two-year, mountain bike racing career—not even a flat. I guess today could follow that trend, depending on how you look at it. This was possibly the best race preparation I’ve ever had.
